       Westport Estates Assisted Living

             by Americare

                     The Arbors

Westport Estates Assisted Living by Americare and the Arbors at Westport Estates, is located here in Marshall, just south of WalMart. At Westport Estates, we offer a quiet hometown setting with convenient access to healthcare and shopping. Westport offers a gracious lifestyle to area seniors seeking care outside the home. Our individualized approach to care ensures that our residents maintain their highest level of independence.

Westport Estates Assisted Living first opened its doors in 1991 and offers a choice of lifestyle options, from Respite care to day or night care or a permanent residence. Our intimate 25-room setting offers affordable, private rooms. When the demands of living in your home require more than you're willing or able to give, residents can have a welcome home with us.

At Westport they receive the help they need with the activities of daily living, but you may not notice this right away, because that's part of our charm. You see, behind the scenes, a full-time licensed nurse provides oversight. She also doubles as a health services coordinator concerned with every resident's care needs. Our nurse makes sure that each person receives the right level of support around the clock with minimal intrusion -- both from our staff and from outside resources, like home health, therapy or hospice. This low-key, yet coordinated, approach to health care lets our residents maintain their chosen level of independence.

In 2007 we added Westport Estates Alzheimer's assisted living facility next door. We call this facility the Arbors. We know the challenges home caregivers face when tending to someone with Alzheimer’s. Just finding the time to search for proper care can seem impossible. At the Arbors, we offer a shelter of care and advice for the entire family. The intimate 14-unit floor plan of the Arbors building creates a calm, secure environment for residents with memory impairments.

At the Arbors, living with Alzheimer’s becomes less of a challenge for you and your loved one. We combine the intimacy of assisted living with specialized care for the memory impaired. When it comes to caring for the Alzheimer’s resident, we believe in teamwork. A specially trained staff of caregivers comes alongside the resident to help embrace the ups and downs of daily living. At the same time, we continually incorporate the latest approaches to this challenging disease into the daily routines and activities of all our residents. The size of the Arbors promotes an intimate, calming environment. With only 14 rooms, the Arbors co-exists with our sister assisted living facility, yet remains separate. Care is provided in a building specifically designed with the comfort of the

Alzheimer’s resident in mind.

In the fall of 2008, Westport Estates received a renovation! New furniture, drapes, and flooring are just a few examples of our commitment to providing the very best for our residents and our community. Part of our operating philosophy calls for service to the communities in which we operate. We know that many small groups have limited budgets yet still need a space to hold their meetings and functions. We welcome them to our facility. So far, we’ve had groups from churches, non-profit boards, and event planning committees take advantage of our offer. We look forward to serving even more groups once the word spreads of our availability.

We know that it takes more than bricks and mortar to make quality senior living. We’re unlike other business in health care because our customers live with us 24-hours a day. Our challenge is to make certain that each resident receives the right level of care at the right time, in a place that they can call home. We’re committed to that vision and continue to attract some of the most talented care-givers in the area. Our residents deserve nothing less.

Whether it’s Westport Estates Assisted Living or the Arbors at Westport, we offer just the right touch of care, companionship, and comfort. We handle the everyday so you can enjoy Every Day.

Our Administrator, Directors of Nursing and entire staff get to know our residents like family — with all of their unique needs and preferences. It’s what makes Westport Estates unlike other assisted living facilities— its home.

Mary Mark RN administrator has 30 yrs experience as a RN in mental health, home health, hospital settings and long term care –with most of that being in the management area, and has been a licensed nursing home administrator for over 20 years. Mary has been the administrator at Westport Estates and the Arbors for 2 years. As the Administrator, Mary sees to it that the emphasis is less on paperwork and more on people. She also works with residents and families to obtain financial assistance if needed.

Westport Estates Arbors Alzheimer Care Director of Nursing, Sherry King LPN, opened the Arbors building in Aug 2007. She has over 25 yrs experience in long term care , physicians office, occupational health and the mental health field. Sherry makes sure that each resident receives the right level of support for their specific needs.

Westport Assisted Living, Director of Nursing, Sarah Smith LPN has been in her position 2 years, and also has 25 yrs experience. She has spent her career in mental health and long term care. Sarah makes sure that our individualized approach to care allows our residents to maintain their highest level of independence and that they receive services from outside agencies, such as therapy, when needed.

At the end of the day, the most important indicator of resident satisfaction is their willingness to recommend us to others.

90 percent of our residents rated their willingness to recommend Westport Estates to others as ―excellent‖ or ―good,‖ in a report released by the assisted living community. These results come from Marshall’s recent satisfaction survey conducted by My InnerView Inc., a third-party applied research company providing leaders in skilled nursing, assisted living and senior housing with tools to measure, benchmark and improve performance.

The feedback allows us to identify our strengths and opportunities so that we can provide a safe, positive and caring environment for our residents. This result speaks volumes to the community and to prospective residents and families.

We have a continued commitment toward person-centered care and home town hospitality in everything we do. The quality of care the folks in Marshall have come to expect from Westport Estates is something we work hard at every day. We invite everyone to come and take a tour for yourself to see and feel the difference at Westport Estates!
