MARSHALL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SANTA FE TRAIL DAYS The 2010 Santa Fe Trail Days will be Saturday, September 11th at the Indian Foothills Park, 1538 E Vest St., Marshall, MO. There will be a 5K run/walk, craft and food vendors, music groups performing throughout the day, a tribute to the September 11th victims, survivors, emergency service providers and all Veterans, children’s activities, chainsaw carving auction and more. Starting off the Santa Fe Trail Days at 8:00 am is a “Run for the Blind “5k run/walk sponsored by the Lions Club. Participants will turn west on Eastwood, south on Lincoln, east on Yerby and back to the Lions Shelter house. Gifts and medals will be given. Along with the run, Santa Fe Trail Days gives individuals and businesses an opportunity to show off their craft from cooking food to demonstrating how to make things. Vendor’s booths will be open from 9 am – 4 pm selling & demonstrating their craft or handing out information about organizations. Flint knapping, hand woven rugs, wooden pens, quilts, wood items, jewelry, crafts, crochet items, sunglasses, ATV Display, cutlery, dishcloths, kids toys and much more will be there, along with a big variety of foods such as, tenderloins, BBQ ribs, pulled pork, brisket, hotdogs, chili dogs, burgers, sausage, fries, funnel cakes, onion rings, candy bars, cheese sticks, nachos, mushrooms, philly cheese steak, Rueben, club sandwich, BLT, chicken tenders, salads, various hot wings, kettle corn, and more! Don’t forget about the kids. The Marshall Parks & Recreation Dept. will host their annual “Day in the Park” with all kinds of cool things for the kids like bounce houses, face painting, petting zoo, balloon launch, Heritage games and much more for the kids and family to enjoy!! Musical entertainment will start at 9:30 am and run throughout the day. Area church groups will perform as well as other entertainment. At noon a Tribute to 9-11 victims, survivors and all Veterans will take place. Congressman Ike Skelton will be speaking and there will be a wreath laying ceremony honoring our emergency services as well as our armed forces. Come and show your patriotism and support for these brave men and women who serve us well each day. The day will wind down at 4:00 with the Chainsaw Carving Auction provided by the Saline County Fair board. Come and enjoy a great event in a beautiful park!
